Optimistic outlook for 2022
ScaleNC starts the new year with a positive summary for 2021 and a very optimistic outlook for 2022. The young platform provider, that offers NC programming for manufacturing equipment as a service, expects an increasing demand for the services of its platform, especially due to the continuing upswing and the shortage of skilled workers in the manufacturing industry, particularly in mechanical engineering. Support for new manufacturers and machines is expected to make ScaleNC's online services even more attractive and diversified. In line with this, the young technology company, which was founded just under a year and a half ago, is planning a communication and information push to further open up the metalworking market, which is still very conservative in many places.
“We practically started in the middle of the Corona pandemic with our 2020 launch. While this was no problem for our developers and NC programming experts, it was of course not easy for our sales team to get started without direct contact to customers and partners. Especially in the metal and mechanical engineering industry, where a lot still happens through personal exchange, this was a real challenge,” explains Holger Röder, co-founder and CEO at ScaleNC. “In the meantime, though, we have found ways to build trusting and successful business relationships with customers and partners even under the current conditions. However, the opportunity to speak face-to-face with interested customers for the first time on a large scale at BlechExpo in Stuttgart in October 2021 provided another great boost. We want to take this momentum into the new year.”
To further expand its scope of services, ScaleNC also added NC programming of laser tube cutting machines and robotic bending cells as additional manufacturing technologies to its portfolio this fall. A focus in the new year will will also be on sales and external communications, as the young company often finds that potential customers are still largely unaware of the possibility of an online platform for NC programming.
“It's remarkable to see that so many of our potential customers and partners use platforms on a daily basis in their private lives – whether it's to book a trip, buy a Christmas present, or order a pizza. But when it comes to using platforms in the B2B environment, skepticism and mostly also lack of knowledge are still widespread. Awareness and openness for B2B platforms are steadily increasing, but we still need to fire up the turbo. That's exactly what we plan to do in 2022,” reports Holger Röder.

Holger Röder, CEO, ScaleNCOn top of that, ScaleNC will also offer „Machine Programming as a Service“ in 2022 for machines made by other manufacturers than TRUMPF. Currently, the company manages to finish orders within 24 to 48 hours, which means the start-up is often significantly faster than its customers' internal work preparation. To be prepared for the growing demand in the new year, ScaleNC relies on a steadily growing network of national and international partners, who are all experts in NC programming.
„Outsourcing complex tasks in the overall fabrication process to specialized digital service providers has a high degree of innovation and requires a new way of thinking in some places – but it offers a lot of potential that we want to leverage in the coming year,“ Röder concludes. „The feedback we have received in recent months shows a high level of interest in our offering, also for programming sheet metal and tube processing machines from other manufacturers besides TRUMPF. Likewise, we are receiving more inquiries about other manufacturing technologies, such as milling and turning. We are also working on this at ScaleNC in 2022 in order to optimally support our customers in all areas of work preparation and NC programming.“
